About

Join us for a special summer evening at Burton Constable Hall celebrating the beauty of nature through history, landscape and music.

The evening begins with two short talks exploring nature at Burton Constable. In the Chippendale Room, discover the story behind our new Herbarium exhibition and William Constable's remarkable collection of dried plants, the largest surviving set of eighteenth-century herbarium volumes in Britain outside London. On the West Lawn, hear about the landscape surrounding the Hall and the work of Capability Brown, who collaborated with William Constable to shape the parkland we see today.

As dusk falls, the evening continues outdoors with an open-air concert by The Ebor Quartet, one of Yorkshire's finest ensembles, returning to Burton Constable after their popular previous performances at the Hall.

Set against the backdrop of the Orangery and surrounding parkland, they will perform a programme inspired by nature, wildlife and the changing seasons. Highlights include The Swan, The Lark Ascending, Waltz of the Flowers, and Aquarium, alongside well-loved classics such as Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World.

A Summer's Night at the Hall: Wonders of Nature promises a memorable evening at one of East Yorkshire's finest historic houses.
