The large, symmetrical historic mansion of Burton Constable Hall in Skirlaugh, with red brick walls and many tall, white-paned windows sits at the end

About

The artists in this exhibition invite you to reflect on the ways in which the past leaves its traces in our present, creating an experience that spans time.

Through a variety of mixed media, artists explore the concept of "echoes"— the reverberations between past events, memories, emotions and sounds - capturing the lingering presence of something that spans the years, decades or centuries.

These concepts are achieved through:

Mixed Media – Layered canvases with repeated motifs, translucent elements or fading imagery.

Photography – Photos capturing reflections, shadows, or hints at past events.

Text-based works – Poems, quotes or scribbled thoughts layered over abstract backgrounds.

Interactive art – Allowing visitors to leave a piece of themselves behind, contributing to the echoes in the space.

Visiting the Gallery

The Stables Community Gallery is open daily from 10am and is free to visit. Located in the South Stable Courtyard, you'll find it on the right-hand side as you walk through the first archway from the café. Everyone is welcome to explore the exhibition and enjoy the creative work on display in this accessible community space.
