About
This Heritage Open Days, on Saturday 12th September and Saturday 19th September, we will be exploring the stories of some of Hull Minster's finest inhabitants, from doctors to merchants, and from labourers to bellringers.
We are delighted to welcome back the insanely talented Shift Key Theatre for another year of immersive storytelling at the Minster, where they will perform as some of the memorialized inhabitants of the church, and bring their stories quite literally 'back to life'.
Come see the inner workings of our tower with our HODS-exclusive bellringer-led tower tour. For just £5, get an exclusive look at one of the UK's best bell towers, and experience the best panoramic view of the city anywhere in Hull.
On Saturday 12th September from 1-2pm, come see our Director of Music demonstrate our Grand Organ. With over 4,000 pipes, it is one of the largest parish organs in the British Isles, and this HODS-exclusive event will offer the public a rare 'look behind the curtain' of what makes our Grand Organ tick.
On Saturday 19th September from 1-2pm, please come enjoy our Minster Choir in their performance titled "Seven Centuries of Song". Hull Minster's choir has a 700 year long tradition of music-making in the church, and has been a vital institution for countless choristers for centuries. Listen to centuries-old songs performed in a centuries-old soundscape, and immerse yourself in an experience felt by the everyday people of Hull for hundreds of years.
Finally, take advantage of a unique opportunity to handle the Minster's artefacts firsthand. Handle mariners' mugs from centuries' past, flip through the largest prayer book you've ever laid hands on, and wield our civil-war era cannonball!
All events, apart from the Tower Tour, are free. So please, come celebrate our collective memory at Hull Minster this Heritage Open Days.
